A new pro football team is coming to Colorado.
The United Football League (UFL) announced the addition of a Colorado Springs franchise for the 2027 season.
The UFL is a pro football league that competes in the spring. The league announced Sept. 23 the addition of Colorado Springs and Rhode Island teams for the 2027 season, which will give the league eight teams. Two more expansion franchises (Utah and Oklahoma) will join in 2028.
The Colorado Springs franchise will play at Weidner Field. The downtown stadium is home to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC soccer club.
New UFL team to be unveiled in October
The team name, colors and logo will be unveiled Oct. 25 in a public event at Weidner Field. Additional team and ticket information can be found online.
While the team name hasn’t been announced yet, the first home game has been. The new franchise will play its first home game at 1 p.m. Mountain on April 11 with the game broadcast on ABC.
