A proposed hyperscale data center in northeast Aurora has drawn growing opposition from residents worried about what the massive project could mean for nearby neighborhoods.
Vantage Data Centers’ proposed Trident campus would be Colorado’s largest data center if completed, and residents have raised concerns about its potential noise, pollution, and enormous demand for electricity and water.
Those concerns brought residents — including several young people — to Aurora City Council on Sept. 28 for hours of public comment. The Trident project is already moving through the city’s review process under existing zoning rules, while Aurora officials consider new regulations for future data centers. That distinction has become central to the fight: residents are pressing city leaders not only over Trident, but over what they will allow to happen next.
