These are the most dangerous intersections in Colorado

Nearly half of the 50 most dangerous intersections in Colorado are located in Aurora, according to a new report.

A study looking at Colorado road safety found Iliff Avenue and Tower Road in Aurora to be the most dangerous intersection in the entire state.

And in fact, almost half of the 50 most dangerous intersections in Colorado were located in Aurora, according to the report.

Ridder Law examined every reported intersection crash in Colorado from 2022 through late 2025, attempting “to identify where drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians face the greatest risk of serious injury.” It used the data to create a score to rank the intersections.

Iliff and Tower had two fatal crashes, nine serious injury accidents, 36 minor injury accidents and 27 more with possible injuries

Aurora’s 24 intersections in the top 50 accounted for 1,357 injuries, more than Denver and Colorado Springs had combined at their top 50 intersections.

Unsurprisingly, the more densely populated Front Range has almost all of the most dangerous intersections in Colorado. The only top 50 intersection outside of it was in Grand Junction, and the three largest cities in Colorado combined for 42 of the top 50.

The rest of the most dangerous intersections were found in Lafayette, Loveland, Brighton, Fountain and unincorporated Larimer County.

Combined, those 50 intersections accounted for 47 fatalities and 2,748 injuries in 4,105 accidents.

“When you look at the Top 50 most dangerous intersections across Colorado, one thing becomes clear: these crashes aren’t random,” the study says. “They tend to happen at busy intersections where fast-moving traffic, frequent turns, and high volumes of people all collide in the same space.”

The major thoroughfares create ideal conditions for serious injury accidents when drivers lose focus or get out of control, the study notes. And Colorado has documented issues with drivers speeding, battling road rage and being reckless behind the wheel.
