In an interview with Aaron Parnas, Manny Rutinel said Congress is falling behind on AI risks — and argued lawmakers need to start treating major AI companies more like other high-risk industries.
The Colorado congressional candidate called for federal whistleblower protections for AI workers, mandatory reporting when AI systems break safeguards or nearly cause serious harm, and independent testing of companies’ safety systems.
Rutinel previously co-sponsored a bipartisan Colorado bill aimed at protecting workers at large AI companies who report substantial public-safety or security risks.
