Colorado Rep. Jason Crow, an army veteran, accused Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of reshaping the military’s senior ranks around ideology and personal loyalty during an appearance on MSNow. Crow pointed to the removal of dozens of high-ranking officers and a sharp drop in women appearing on promotion lists, the lowest number in 25 years. Hegseth has dismissed or removed numerous senior officers since taking over the Pentagon and has publicly criticized diversity initiatives and previously argued that women should not serve in combat roles.
