Thornton resident warns council over data center moratorium

Brad Vickers, a Northglenn resident and co-lead of the newly formed Adams County Democratic Socialists of America, told Thornton leaders he fears new data centers could bring relentless noise and put local water resources at risk.

As council considered a temporary moratorium on new or expanding data centers, Vickers made the political stakes explicit: “This is not a threat; this is a commitment and a promise.” He said council members who vote against the moratorium should expect challengers. The proposal was before Thornton City Council for first reading on Sept. 8.
