You won’t get rich, but your reward for this volunteer opportunity is spending the fall and winter in the mountains of Colorado rent free.
The Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest is looking for a volunteer cabin host(s) at its Redfeather Ranger Station in the unincorporated village of Red Feather Lakes, in northern Larimer County. The site is about 44 miles northwest of Fort Collins.
Responsibilities for volunteer opportunity
The position requires the host(s) to live on site and runs Oct. 1 to May 15, 2027. It typically requires less than 20 to 30 hours of light maintenance of rental cabins and taking guest reservations. Individuals or couples may apply.
The National Register of Historic Places site sits among golden aspen in fall and ponderosa pine forest and includes two rental cabins and an office with a visitor center.
The Redfeather Ranger Station, 274 Dowdy Lake Road, is located on the edge of Red Feather Lakes, across the road from a small convenience store and a restaurant.
Training is provided and the position requires references and background check.
