DENVER, Colo. — The polls are officially closed in Colorado, where voters are deciding two closely watched congressional races that could help determine which party controls the US House.

The races will determine if Democrat Jessica Killin can defeat Republican Rep. Jeff Crank in the 5th District and Democrat Manny Rutinel can unseat Republican Rep. Gabe Evans in the 8th Congressional District.

Voters are also choosing a US senator, with Democrat John Hickenlooper seeking reelection against Republican Mark Baisley, and a successor to term-limited Democratic Gov. Jared Polis in the open governor’s race between Democrat Phil Weiser and Republican Victor Marx.

Unofficial Colorado election results will be updated as county clerks report their counts. Colorado will certify the results after counties complete the canvassing process.

Who won Colorado’s 5th Congressional District race?

Democrat Jessica Killin has won the race for Colorado’s 5th congressional district, according to the Associated Press. Killin currently leads Republican Jeff Crank 50.6% to 46% with 94% of the vote counted.

The 5th District includes Colorado Springs and much of El Paso County, a longtime Republican stronghold. No Democrat has ever won the seat, which Crank captured in 2024. Killin is hoping to make history by flipping the district for Democrats after facing sharp scrutiny over her campaign strategy and residency. Crank, who previously hosted a conservative talk radio show, campaigned on his record in the GOP stronghold.

Who won Colorado’s 8th Congressional District race?

Democrat Manny Rutinel has defeated incumbent Republican Rep. Gabe Evans to flip Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.

NBC News called the race for Rutinel after 7:30 p.m. local time, leading Evans 56% to 49% with 85% of the votes counted at the time of publication.

The 8th District, which stretches north of Denver into parts of the northern Front Range, is one of the country’s most competitive House races. Evans flipped the seat in 2024, defeating Democrat Yadira Caraveo by less than one percentage point. Rutinel, a state representative, will now return the district to Democratic control. The candidates clashed sharply over border policy and the cost of living, while Evans faced questions over campaign finance donations during the campaign.

Who won Colorado’s U.S. Senate race?

Democratic Sen. John Hickenlooper has defeated Republican Mark Baisley to win a second term representing Colorado in the U.S. Senate.

NBC’s Decision Desk called the race at 7:02 p.m. MT, noting that Hickenlooper won with roughly 79% of the vote at the time of publication.

Hickenlooper, a former Colorado governor and Denver mayor, will start his second term in January. Baisley, a state senator, became the Republican nominee after initially exploring a gubernatorial bid earlier in the cycle. Four other candidates were also on the ballot: Forward Party nominee Bob Chew, Approval Voting Party candidate Christopher Baum, Libertarian Blake Huber and Unity Party candidate Adam Withrow.

Who won Colorado’s governor’s race?

Democrat Phil Weiser has defeated Republican Victor Marx to become Colorado’s next governor, succeeding term-limited Gov. Jared Polis.

NBC’s Decision Desk called the race for Weiser with 11% of votes in. At the time of publication, he’d gotten over 76% of the vote.

Weiser, Colorado’s attorney general, and Marx, a former Marine and founder of a Colorado Springs-based ministry, were the major-party nominees competing to succeed Polis. The campaign drew significant scrutiny over Marx’s rhetoric and controversial public statements. The ballot also included unaffiliated candidate Greg Lopez, American Constitution Party nominee Stephen T. Hamilton, Libertarian Eric Mulder, Unity Party candidate Jeff Peckman and Approval Voting Party candidate Erik Underwood.

Who won Colorado’s secretary of state race?

Democrat Amanda Gonzalez is projected to be Colorado’s next secretary of state, according to NBC News, which called the race for Gonzalez at 8:13 p.m. local time. Gonzalez currently leads Republican James Wiley 61% to 37% with 72% of the vote counted.

Who won Colorado’s attorney general race?

Democrat Jena Griswold is projected to be Colorado’s next attorney general, according to NBC News, which called the race for Griswold at 8:12 p.m. local time. Griswold currently leads Republican Michael Allen 60% to 40% with 72% of the vote counted.
