Philip Anschutz, the reclusive mogul who built a fortune across multiple industries, is once again Colorado’s richest person.
The 86-year-old’s $19.3 billion puts him 60th on the Forbes 400, an annual ranking of the richest people in America, and atop the list of the richest people in Colorado. Anschutz has grown his wealth with investments in energy, sports, entertainment, telecommunications and travel, among other sectors.
Making the list required an estimated net worth of $4.4 billion, up some $600 million from 2025. The cutoff left nearly 600 American billionaires off the list, including several in Colorado.
As impressive as Anschutz’s wealth is, it less than one seventh of what it would take to get into the national top 10 and less than one 47th of the largest fortune.

In addition to Anschutz, three other Colorado billionaires made the Forbes 400.
- No. 101: Charles Ergen, $12.8 billion from satellite TV.
- No. 120: Mark Stevens, $11.8 billion from venture capital.
- No. 134: John Malone, $11.4 billion from cable television.
